Spend a Day with Glassy Laydee: A Colorful Branding Session
Meet Diana, the creative brains behind Glassy Laydee Stained Glass. Her work came to light as she was one of the vendors selling at the plant shop I worked at. Having never seen such designs, I was intrigued to learn more about this craft and her eclectic energy.
She welcomed me into her home with open arms, allowing me to see the behind the scenes of a day in the stained glass life. I took my time exploring her office, lingering over each piece and reveling in the details of her past creations, asking questions and learning about her history. I came into this with no expectations, other than the intention of quietly capturing her in the creative process. To my surprise, we decided to make a piece of my choosing. I thought for quite some time on what to make, but the answer finally made its way to me; Stars, planets, astrology. How about, I said, the planet Saturn. Fascinated by the complexity of the gas giant and its beautiful rings, I knew the texture and rings of light from the stained glass would perfectly encapsulate the beauty of this planet. So, she got to planning.
Measuring the pieces from a template, marking, and cutting meticulously. I absorbed it all.
We spoke about the simplicities of a slow life, savoring in the beauty of leisure and mindfulness.
I truly enjoy seeing people dive into the process of their craft, losing themselves in a world of their own.
Accompanied by her favorite work companion, Nellie (who offered her opinion when asked) otherwise enjoying a well-earned rest on the couch.
