Soft Light, Sacred Moments: Maternity Session on Film
What a dream this was to capture. Chloe and I met before the sun rose; the air crisp, the world still. How magical it was to start a session this early, chasing the promise of a beautiful day. Lately, I’ve found myself falling more in love with maternity sessions. Being in the presence of growing life is a sacred experience I hold close to my heart. It reminds me of the wonder in beginnings, how strong woman are, and what a miracle it is to carry life.
Nestled in the trees, this film maternity session was a tender ode to motherhood, capturing not only the beauty of pregnancy, but the quiet strength and grace of the season itself.
The Location: Scenic Lakeside Path
To get an idea of our mood board, think scenes of lakes and backlighting, glowing sun and textures of lace. Although I was looking for a particular trail, I wanted it to be accessible and short enough of a walk to where we weren’t breaking a sweat. I stumbled upon Bill Faver Lakeshore and Raccoon Run Trail located in High Point, North Carolina; a scenic lakeside trail, shaded by hardwood and scattered pines. We wandered through paths of wooden terrain and tree roots, talking and laughing as we yet again face planted through another spider web. Just like a fairy tale, we rounded a corner, the trees parting in a way where we could see just a glimpse of the morning light. It was breathtaking.
The Styling: Lace& Airy
We wanted a soft, romantic feel— flowy dresses and pants, delicate lace that would catch the morning light. To keep our options open (and because, let’s be honest, we’re delightfully indecisive), we brought several outfit choices along.
A nearby tree stretched its branch out to us, offering a perfect place to hang our pieces. They swayed gently in the breeze like pieces of art, waiting patiently to be picked.
